CONFIDENCE CONFERENCE 2020
SAVE THE DATE
SUNDAY MAY 3, 2020

What is Girls On Fire?

Being a teen girl isn't easy. Girls change physically, mentally and socially from a "kid" to a "young woman" so the pressure can be overwhelming. This vulnerable time can bring on struggles with self esteem, body image, self worth and peer pressure and without the tools and support to over come these challenges, girls can feel lost, anxious and frustrated.

The Girls On Fire Confidence and Wellness Workshops are designed to give teen girls ages 8-14 tools they can use as they take on the challenges of junior high school and beyond. Our strong, kick-butt female leaders will be sharing their personal experiences of empowerment through martial arts, wellness and community as well as tips for moms or female role models to help support teen girls in 2019.

2019 Confidence conference recap

The inaugural Girls On Fire Confidence Conference was a success! With 120 participants, we unleashed super SHE-Ro powers all over Edmonton!

FOUNDER & Conference host
Theresa Stanley

Picture
As one of the head coaches for the Phoenix Taekwon-do Club, Theresa Stanley has built a career and life around inspiring her students to step into their greatness and unleash the fire inside them. As a girl at the age of 6,  she remembers  struggling with body image and self-esteem - questioning whether she was skinny enough or pretty enough.  However, through martial arts, she was able to find her power and be confident in her uniqueness.

After hearing that a friend's 8 year old daughter was having serious, life threatening struggles with self esteem and self hate, Theresa was moved to take a stand for young female kind. It was then that the idea of Girls on Fire came about. Along with fellow black belt Michelle Kardolus, she launched the very first Confidence Workshop in August 2018 that focused on positivity, fun and "kicking ass" with self defence life skills.

As a coach to hundreds of girls in the Taekwon-do community, Theresa wants to make sure that every girl she reaches will be inspired and unleash their inner SHE-Ro. She believes that Girls On Fire is meant to impact Edmonton, but the vision is GLOBAL.

Emma will be capturing a photo participants in a "Glamour style, POWER pose!" that they can take home to remind them of how beautiful, unique and amazing they are. Emma will also share a bit of her own story about being bullied as a girl and how she over came her struggle.
