How do you know which club to join?

One of the most common questions we are asked is...what is the difference between your club and this other club?  Our answer is usually, try them out and see which one feels better for you.  We believe that when people see our club, meet our students and instructors, look at our schedule etc, they will know that Phoenix is the place to be.  To help with that choice we have created a list of items to compare.

Facility - training floor size, equipment, flooring type, viewing area.  Is the club a good environment for training in the martial arts?  Does the club have a variety of equipment to use?  Is the floor made of good material to work out on?  Can parents watch?

Instruction - Age, level, demeanour, gender.  Is the main instructor mature?  Are the instructor or instructors higher level black belts?  Does the instructor seem personable?  Does the club have both male and female instructors?

Type of Club - Is the club a non profit or a business.  If non profit, is it a hobby club running a few days a week out of a school gym?  If a business, does it ask for contracts?

Schedule - days, times, number of classes allowed.  How many days per week does the club offer for students to train?  Are the times varied?  Can students train as often as they like or are they restricted to a few days per week?

Extra activities - Social, competitive, educational.  Does the club offer additional events like club social activities, tournaments, seminars, or extra training opportunities?

Fees - How much.  Simple question but you must balance the answers from above with the cost of training.  A very low cost for training means the club does not meet the highest standards for those items mentioned.  That means a reduced level of technical ability.  An extremely high cost can mean the club is trying to give an inflated value if it does not meet the highest standards either.

Phoenix Taekwon-Do meets all those standards to the highest degree but our fees are right in the middle when compared to other clubs in the area.  High enough to ensure continued high standards but low enough to be affordable for everyone.

In conclusion, when comparing apples to apples, Phoenix Taekwon-do shines the brightest!

                          Some simple facts about Phoenix...
The club has been around since 1986
There are only 2 Chang-Hon clubs in the Edmonton area who's instructors were not Master Stanley's students.
Master Stanley is one of the few Taekwon-Do instructors that does nothing else but Taekwon-Do!
Phoenix has over 40 active black belts.
Master Stanley is the only instructor in the Edmonton area who studied with the founder of Taekwon-Do every year for 20 years!
